COMMUNITY EVENTS

·         If you missed Terry Theise at the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant last year, he will be at Omnivore Books on Food, located in charming Noe Valley on Thursday, January 20 from 6-7pm.  Details are on Omnivore’s events page.    If you love cookbooks, especially unusual ones, get there early and browse their astonishing collection.  If you have the day off and want to relax in the area, reserve a tea time at Lovejoy’s Tea Room.  Our personal favorites are the Lapsang Souchong and their own Yorkshire Gold blend.
·         On Saturday, January 22, Arlequin Wine Merchant in San Francisco’s eclectic Hayes Valley will be featuring wines by Austria’s Heidi Schrock and Germany’s Johannes Selbach.  Details available on their website.
·         On Thursday, January 27, Vin Vino Wine in Palo Alto will be featuring 2009 Mosel Superstars at the tasting bar.  Details available on their website (scroll down to January).

GET INVOLVED

·         Do you have German wine or cultural news?  Tell us about it and we will feature it in an upcoming issue of the newsletter.  All contributors will receive an entry into a drawing for a bottle of wine, to be given away at the wine dinner.
·         Need to make room in your cellar?  Donate wine to the GWS!  The German Wine Society is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.   Plus, any wines you donate are tax-deductible at fair market value (because we drink ‘em, not sell ‘em!)
