Newsletter Volume 10-8

Volume 10-8
October 4, 2010

Dear Members,

Happy Autumn!  The Giants winning the division is not the only exciting thing happening this season:

OUR NEXT TASTING IS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14

As usual for the Bay Area, we never know what the weather will bring at this time of year, and more importantly, what wine to pair with that weather: a crisp and refreshing white, a jaunty rose, or an earthy, comforting red.   Rather than pick just one, your San Francisco chapter will be presenting TEN different varietals from SEVEN different appellations, including whites, reds and even a rose at our annual non-Riesling tasting on October 14.   Delicious nibbles and convivial company included!

SAVE THE DATE FOR SPARKLERS AND STICKIES!

Our final, and possibly fan favorite, tasting of the year will be on Friday, December 3.  Yes, sparklers and stickies will be strutting their stuff at our annual holiday event.   You won’t want to miss it!

Keep an eye on your inbox, too; we will be rolling out our 2011 calendar in the coming weeks.

GIVE BACK

·         Are you interested in distributing brochures at your local wine shops and talking to their staff about the GWS?  Want to recruit members from your area?  Have a bunch of great ideas?  Tell us about it!
·         Need to make room in your cellar?  Donate wine to the GWS!  The German Wine Society is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.   Plus, any wines you donate are tax-deductible at fair market value (because we drink ‘em, not sell ‘em!)
